Synopsis |
This show's highlight is the classic "Gone with the Wind" spoof "Went with the Wind." Other sketches include Harvey Korman proposing to Carol. Harvey also visits the Oldest Man’s (Tim Conway) deli and he has a legitimate beef. The musical numbers include Dinah Shore singing Paul Simon’s "50 Ways to Leave Your Lover." This show’s highlight is the first "Family" sketch where family members Eunice (Carol), Harvey (Ed), and Vicki (Mama) can’t appreciate the accomplishments of their Nobel Prize-winning writer Philip (Roddy). This sketch became a classic and was the basis of the show "Mama’s Family." Other sketches include Roddy McDowell in full "Planet of the Ape" makeup in a duet with Carol; Harvey, Lyle, and Carol play carpenters; Carol, Vicki, Lyle, and Harvey are at a bus stop when the phone rings; Carol plays a music teacher to the Jackson 5, among others, and they all do the songs "This Old Man" and "A-B-C."
